Overview
The mobile app gives users the ability to plan trips using maps and routing designed for commercial vehicles. To ensure the best experience, populate the truck property of loads and stops with the most accurate vehicle and cargo information available to your systems.
How It Works
The mobile app relies on backend service data to construct routes and collect user feedback. At a high level, routing begins by passing load and stop details, including the truck property, through the Loads API. Route calculation can take place locally within the mobile app, or on your server using Pluggable Routing to deliver the finalized routes.
Default Routing and Data Exchange
The platform uses the HERE V8 routing API by default. You do not call the HERE APIs directly; instead, the platform handles all communication with HERE behind the scenes.
The platform transmits the following data to the HERE routing API to generate routes:
Stop locations:
latitudeandlongitudeof the origin and destination.Truck properties:
type,height,width,length,limited_weight,limited_speed,weight_per_axle,trailer_count,tunnel_category,hazardous_types, andtraffic_rerouting.Route options:
avoid_dirt_roads,avoid_toll_roads,avoid_tunnels, andhide_total_miles.Current location of the user.
Geofences:
radius,latitude, andlongitudelocation.Avoids:
latitudeandlongitudecoordinates.
NOTE: If there is a HERE routing feature that you would like to use, please reach out to your Account Executive to submit an enhancement request.
If you prefer not to have the mobile app compute the route locally, Pluggable Routing lets you compute routes on demand using a navigation engine of your choice on your server. You can deliver these custom-computed routes directly to users for display in the Trip Planner and for turn-by-turn navigation in the mobile app.
NOTE: When pluggable routing is enabled for a load, the user cannot view or change the route options in the mobile app.
