My Truck

Overview

The My Truck feature allows you to display the location of a physical asset on a map in the mobile app, along with a summary of its status. Although the feature is named My Truck, you can use it for any asset, including trucks, trailers, and equipment.

How It Works

When you add the My Truck card to a user's dashboard, the card displays the name and summary of that user's asset. Users can tap the map portion of the card to see the asset's location, and switch between satellite and standard map views.

You provide the asset's details through your Truck Status web service, which the Platform calls with the user's access token. Your service returns the summary, name, and location for that user's asset.

For example, you can show the location of a trailer that recently received a washout or a truck that completed maintenance.

Key Components

  • summary: Custom text designed to give users specific context about the current condition or status of the asset. This property is required.

  • name: Text for the mobile app to display on the locator map, which helps users identify the asset. This property is optional.

  • location: The asset's current location. This property is optional. Omit it when the location is unknown.

    • latitude: Required when location is provided

    • longitude: Required when location is provided

NOTE: If you omit location, the map cannot show the asset. Include latitude and longitude whenever the location is known.
